The Town welcomed Baldock to Bell Close in a beautiful April sunshine on Saturday afternoon, in their penultimate fixture of the season. The drama had started before the game even kicked off, with Town facing somewhat of a goalkeeper crisis.

With Kev Patel, Charlie Jones and Tom Wyant injured and George Waters away, Town were left with no goalkeeper available.
It looked like Goalkeeping Coach, Dave Paredes was ready to don the gloves, however that changes at the last minute and Centre Back Tom Guiney went in between the posts.
Michael Donker also came into the team, as well as Jay Caines.
Town immediately started the game on the front foot and were unlucky not to be in front early on when Jay Caines and Ross Adams had chances smothered and blocked by the Baldock rear guard.
Alfie Osborne was next to go Close for Town. His rasping long range drive was parried away well by Farmer.
Town's dominance eventually paid off as midway through the first half, they took the lead!
Tom Bryant's well delivered corner was met by Jay Caines, who powered home a header that gave Farmer no chance!
With Town now in front, the game hit a lull into the end of the first period.
In that time, Ross Adams and Myles Lee picked up yellow cards for an off the ball incident.
In the second half, the visitors looked to try and find their feet and set out looking for an equaliser.
Kieran Barnes entered the book for dissent after a decision didn't go his sides way.
Just 10 minutes into the second period however and Baldock found that equaliser, through the unlikeliest of sources.
Kyle Davison-Gordon went in to clear the ball on the edge of the area, but managed to hook it over Tom Guiney and into the back of the Town net.
With the score line now level, both sides sensed they could go on and win the game.
But the visitors had the biggest chance of the game, however, somehow didn't convert it.
Kieran Barnes broke clear of the Town backline and closed in on goal. His curling shot was saved well by Guiney who got down low, but the rebound fell into the path of Charlie Joy, who was no more than 8 yards out. He had the whole goal to aim at with no one in it and put it over the bar! He didn't find much Joy from that one.
Town were next to have a chance, when Davison-Gordon looked to make up for his own goal, meeting a Bryant corner, but couldn't turn his header goal-wards.
Both sides then turned to their substitutes to try and bring some fresh legs into proceedings. Sweeney and Copson introduced Tom Silford and Kyle Faulkner. They replaced Jay Caines and Ollie Buckley.
Myles Lee then entered the referee's pocket book, for diving just outside his own area! The free kick resulted in a header over the bar from Silford.
As both sides continue to push on for a winner, Baldock had the better of the chances.
Joy tried his luck from distance and forced a save from Guiney who palmed out for a corner.
Barker then had a header from the corner, cleared off of the line by Ross Adams!
As time ticked on, Town introduced Kuda Butawo to proceedings. He came on for Alfie Osborne.
The final chance of the game, came inside the 3rd minute of stoppage time.
Kyle Faulkner disposed a Baldock midfielder and released Tom Silford on the left hand side. Silford drove into the box and with some space fired a shot at Farmer's goal. But, the Baldock shot stopper was equal to it and palmed it away for a corner!
The corner however was a poor one and a few moments later, the referee blew for full time.
A very competitive and entertaining game at Bell Close, in the beautiful Spring sunshine!
That leaves Town 11th in the table, with the possibility of finishing 10th, if results go our way on the final day of the season next Saturday.
On that day, we host Leverstock Green, so we hope to see as many of you as possible, as we look to end another season with a win!
Thank you for your support today, 151 of you saw today's battle with Baldock!
Happy Easter!
