Danny Nicholls’ made 2 changes to his side from Tuesday. Warren Garcia replaced Kelvin Osei-Addo and Brian Foulger, who impressed in his cameo at Roker Park, replaced Aaron McKee. Tom Bryant moved up front playing off of Denilson Silva and Paolo Baggati kept his place at full back.

However, it wasn’t a fast start like previous weeks for Leighton. Olawale Salami was picked out on the right hand side with a rasping pass, before squaring to Nick Kerley. Kerley had the whole goal to aim at with Wyant scrambling across to try and stop the effort, but his shot cannoned off the crossbar and out for a goal kick.

Leighton’s only notable chance of the first half was when Lewis McBride was played clean through and in behind full back Harry Beaumont, but McBride’s effort was smothered well by Matt Evans in between the posts and the chance was wasted by Nicholls’ side.

Half Time rolled around after a rather uneventful first half at Bell Close.

Jamie Nicholls came on at half time for Warren Garcia, both players just coming back from knocks.

Just minutes into the second period, The Jets were down to ten men.Andrew Brennan, The Jets attacking midfielder, was dismissed by the referee for a late challenge on Leighton Captain, Dave Murphy.
Oxhey’s Number Ten was quite evidently unhappy with the decision, as were the rest of the Oxhey players.
Leighton tried to make the extra man advantage count, but that pressure would ultimately lead to nothing.

Junior Muya, who was excellent all afternoon, drove out of defence before playing wide to Tom Bryant.
Bryant’s ‘cross come shot’ found its way through a sea of Oxhey defenders and Muya, who continued his run, managed to get on the end of it, but Evans was equal to the effort and managed to keep it out of his net.

George Armstrong came on for Paolo Baggati who impressed once again. Just the two changes for the Town in this fixture, despite a bench of five players.

Lewis McBride, who’s started the season in excellent fashion despite Leighton’s slow start, hit a wonderfully timed volley towards the Oxhey goal. McBride’s fine effort thumped the crossbar and flew over ‘The Shed End’.

Time ticked on for Leighton as they couldn’t seem to find a way through the Jets defence.

Only seconds remained, when Leighton had their final chance. Denilson Silva was picked out superbly. But, with Evans closing down the angle, Silva decided to square the ball rather than curl the ball around the goalkeeper. The ball was cleared by defender Gary Wallace and shortly after, the game was brought to a close.

Leighton’s wait for a home win goes on as they make it five points from five league games, two of those points coming at home.

Next up for Leighton is a trip to Hatfield Town in the cup on Tuesday evening.
