Danny Nicholls and his team travelled to Stotfold on Tuesday evening, looking to take their first three points of the season, after a disappointing opening 3 League games.

The Town lined up in their new away strip for the first time and that kit could prove to be a lucky charm after its first outing!
Paolo Baggati made his first start of the season for Town at fullback and Junior Muya came in and started ahead of the injured Carl Resch, who will unfortunately be sidelined for some time after picking up a shoulder injury on Saturday.
Tom Bryant moved out to the left hand side after playing the first games of the season at right back.
The Town looked to get out of the blocks quickly and were moving the ball well on a good pitch at Roker Park, however, they survived an early scare.
Junior Muya attempted to drive out from defence but was dispossessed on the halfway line, Rob Teppett was in for Stotfold but his shot was palmed away by Wyant and the follow up was scuffed by another Stotfold attacker, but it hit the outside of the post and went out for a goal kick.
Shortly after that, with only 19 minutes on the clock, Leighton made their early pressure count, Alex O’Brien, who originally lost the ball in the midfield, won it back excellently and played a perfectly timed ball through to the on-running Bryant. He took the ball around the goalkeeper and slotted home to give the Town a deserved one nil advantage.
3 minutes later, the score line was doubled and O’Brien this time was the goalscorer rather than the assistant, he shifted the ball on the edge of the box, evading challenges and using his strength, before firing into the far right corner to make it 2-0 to the Town. The Town’s pressure continued throughout the first half and Denilson Da Silva worked tirelessly to pressure the back line all evening. His persistence was almost rewarded when he blocked one of the goalkeeper’s passes and Kelvin Osei-Addo had an opportunity to open his Leighton account. But, some fantastic defending from Stotfold kept the ball out and it was cleared. At half-time, the Town were comfortable with a two-nil lead, despite some mistakes around the back that weren’t punished by Stotfold.
Stotfold came out in the second half looking to mount a come back. Early in the second period, Tom Wyant was called into action with a good save low to his left corner.
Stotfold then made 3 changes in quick succession, before 60 minutes as they looked to add some fresh legs to proceedings.
Then, just after their final change, Leighton made it 3-0 through Kelvin Osei-Addo.
The striker opened his account after missing an earlier chance. Alex O’Brien slid a ball into him, he put the ball past a defender before calmly finishing across the goalkeeper into the far side of the net.In the next, 10 minutes, the Town would double their 3-0 score line.
O’Brien, who was instrumental all evening, picked up the ball after a mistake by Stotfold and played it straight into Osei-Addo, who fired across the goalkeeper, to make it four and doubled his Leighton account.
Three minutes later, McBride got on to the ball in the midfield and drove out wide. He squared it across to Denilson Da Silva, who took aim and scored his first Leighton goal in style! He was excellent all night long, much like the assistant Lewis McBride.
Aaron McKee was replaced by Brian Foulger, who would make his first Leighton appearance of the season.
The last goal of the evening came from Osei-Addo once again. He struck for the third time when he finished with class, with a cultured left-footed drive, that clipped the post before going into the back of the net.
That made it six and gave Osei-Addo a well deserved hat trick, with 3 brilliant finishes.
Paolo Baggati was replaced by Callum Gregory just after the sixth goal. The full back had a great game on his first start for Leighton.
Denilson Da Silva who worked his socks off all evening and got his goal as a reward, was replaced by George Armstrong, Leighton’s final change of the evening.
The Town nearly lost their clean sheet near the end, when Foulger passed back to Wyant with too much velocity and the bounce went over the goalkeepers head but luckily, it went out for a corner!
Shortly after that, the referee blew up for Full Time!
A fantastic performance from Nicholls and his team, who were without the likes of Nicholls, Marsala and Resch, as they managed to add three points on the board for the first time this season.
This Saturday, Leighton entertain Oxhey Jets at Bell Close, as they look to make it 3 games in a row unbeaten and really kick on in this campaign.
Come down and support the lads once again, your support is always appreciated!
