Kings Langley 2 - Leighton Town 1

Despite taking the lead against high flying Kings Langley, Town were unable to hang on and get at least a point.

The Home side started strongly and only two great saves by Town's keeper Sam Wyer stopped them going ahead. Town more than matched their opponents in the muddy conditions and had some good possession but were unable to create any real chances.

Kings Langley had a good spell and on at least 3 three occasions wasted good opportunities by some very wayward shooting.

A great move down the right saw James Hatch beat a couple of defenders and his inch perfect cross into the box was met by Ben Gallant who put Town ahead with a confident strike.

Neither side created any further chances before the break.

Kings Langley came out all guns blazing at the start of the second half and should have done better when Mitchell Weiss put his effort over the bar when it looked easier to score. However a few minutes later the scores were level when following a corner on the right, Connor Toomey was given too much room in the six yard box and he levelled the game . Town continued to work hard and pass the ball and whilst they didn't really create any good chances the home side's defence had to concentrate to contain some good pressure.

Kings Langley continued to push for a winner and it came with around fifteen minutes left when a speculative shot from outside the box from Weiss just crept inside the post beating the unsighted Wyer. Leighton pushed hard for an equaliser and despite a couple of close shaves the home defence stood firm and took the points which now see them climb to second in the League.

A very positive workmanlike performance from Town who will be disappointed not to have got a point from this game. There were no stars for Town as this was one of their best showings as a team. They now need to continue to work hard for each other to create more scoring opportunities for the side.

Next up are Royston Town away on Tuesday night - 7.45 pm before meeting old rivals
Bedford Town at Bell Close this coming Saturday - 3.00 pm
