Bedford Town 2 - Leighton Town 1

A draw would have been a fair result in this local derby last Tuesday but two poor defensive mistakes allowed the hosts to win all three points.

Bedford started the match the livelier of the teams and Dylan Gittens on the left caused the Leighton defence a few problems with his tricky dribbles, he created an excellent opportunity but the end strike was very weak.

On the half hour mark a very poor attempt at a tackle by Leighton's Semeniero in the box, resulted in a needless trip and Kyal McNulty despatched the resultant penalty to put Bedford in front.

Leighton had a good spell of possession but were unable to penetrate a stubborn Bedford defence but just on the stroke of half-time a great run by Craig Maisiri saw him leave a couple of defenders in his wake and strike home a fabulous 20 yard shot
to level the score.

The second half was an even contest with neither side creating any real chances.
Bedford went close on a couple of occassioons but the Visitors led superbly at the back by Jordan Jenkins held firm. The game was decided in the 81st minute when Leighton keeper Mazurek dropped a cross and sub Josh Bamford was on hand to poke the ball home.
Leighton responded well but home keeper Reading was well placed to save a header from Alex Woodfine.
