Both teams came into this fixture on the back of losses to opposition below them in the division but it was Town who started the first half the brighter of the two sides. In the early exchanges Keiron Birch put in a good ball into the box following a free kick that was unlucky not to be met by the head of Alex Woodfine. Birch was involved again moments later, this time with a well worked corner routine with skipper Kieron Schmidt who produced a good save from the Kings Langley keeper with a curling left hand shot just inside the 18 yard box.

At this point in the game the Leighton defense were coping well with any Kings Langley attempt to push forward and Town were retaining the ball well and any save Sam Mazurek had to make was very comfortable.

After good link up play between Ibrahim Diallo and Matt Hall a chance fell to Shayne Almond whose shot tested the keeper. It seemed like it was a bit too much of huff and no puff by Leighton as another good ball in from a free kick by Shayne Almond was unable to be capitalised on.

At the other end Kings Langley had one of their best chances of the game so far from striker Mitchell Weiss with a free header which turned out to be an easy save in the end for Mazurek. This seemed to spur them on again as Weiss produced a stunning double save from Mazurek and the Town defending from the resulting corner was questionable. And then in the 34th minute Kings Langley got their first goal of the game. It was a good finish from a hopeful ball in to the box but it was cooly dispatched into the bottom right hand corner by Gary Connolly.

After conceding, Leighton's heads started to drop and by half time I think there would have been no complaints if Kings Langley had scored again with Weiss being at the heart of most of their chances.

Whatever Mark Eaton had said at half time it certainly worked as Town started the second half brightly with Shayne Almond shooting just wide. But this was undone just moments later when Kings Langley went 2-0 up. Gary Connolly by far Kings Langley's best player latched onto a good ball and slotted it into the left corner. Kings Langley were getting too much time on the ball and Leighton were being slow to close them down. After Weiss nearly made it 3 with a shot that was an inch wide of the post after rounding the keeper, Town started to wake up.

After a good link up between Alex Woodfine and Hall was cleared by Kings Langley came Town's best chance of the game so far as a header was cleared off the line from the resulting corner. Town made the first substitution of the match as the skipper Schmidt was replaced by Luca Semeniero who looked sharp as he came on to press for a Leighton goal. But it was Town's second substitution Woodfine for Craig Maisiri who had a more inspired impact and kickstarted a great move from Leighton by passing to Almond who teed up Semeniero in the 6 yard area who should have done better with the chance, shooting straight at the keeper when he had time to work the keeper better. Maisiri then had a chance to score himself but he was fouled by David Femiola on the edge of the 18 yard box who was booked. Another good ball into the box from the resulting free kick was then just about cleared by Kings Langley as Leighton looked for a way back into the game.

Mark Eaton was urging his Leighton players to push up and Maisiri perhaps should have done better with a shot on the turn from about 4 yards out which he hit over the bar.

In the end it was too little too late for Leighton who lost their 4th consecutive league game. However the performances of Maisiri and the determination to get back into the game are positives for Leighton to take from.
