Town return from Hampshire empty handed.

Match Report Saturday 19/9/2015

Fleet Town 4 Leighton Town 2.

Town included 3 new signings in their squad for this League game in Hampshire on Saturday, but in the end they were beaten by a Team that took their chances .

Straight from the Kick - Off Fleet moved the ball down the left and the ball fell kindly for their centre forward - Simba Mlambo who cracked a great shot past Sam Masurak in the Town goal to open the scoring. Town had a great opportunity to equalise when full back Jordan Jenkins should have done better with a free header from a corner.

Skipper Keiran Schmidt went close with a good effort for Leighton before a great strike from Ben Gallant from fully 35 yards deceived home 'keeper Pryce to level the score.

Fleet almost went ahead when total indecision in the Visitor's defence almost cost a goal -only a last ditch clearance off the line prevented them scoring. Mlambo headed over as Fleet pressed but Samson Alalade almost scored for Leighton, but his shot hit the side netting.

Fleet went ahead again early in the second half when the ball was crossed into the penalty area and the alert Mlambo placed his header wide of Mazurek and the ball crept in at the far post.
Mazurek will be disappointed as he really should have done better. Leighton pressed and began creating chances but home 'keeper Pryce stood firm and made 3 excellent catches from Ben Gallant's efforts. Mazurek made a good save from a free-kick to keep the deficit at one and at the other end Pryce did well to save following a great move by Leighton. However some poor defending let Daryll Phillips put the Home side 3-1 up.

This goal got Leighton going and they had their best spell of the game. Shots were going in from all angles but Fleet held firm until following a great run down the right Aston Goss unleashed an unstoppable shot from 25 yards to reduce the deficit. Town pressed for an equaliser and had a lot of possession but this left them open at the back and Fleet broke down the right and un-marked Mlambo sealed the game with his third. Town continued to press but to no avail.

Next Sat Town are home in the League to Kings Langley.

Thanks - Iain .
