Leighton Town 3-1 Crawley Green

It was back to Bell Close and back to form on Tuesday night, as Leighton Town displayed a confident 3-1 win against league leaders Crawley Green. The SSML bump in the road away at Dunstable at the weekend was forgotten as Luke Pyman and Leon Lobjoit drove home the all-important goals.
This one in front of 206 fans under the lights started in remarkable fashion. Leon Lobjoit saw the visiting keeper off his line and from 25-yards found the back of the net with a sublimely executed chip.
Just after this, a jubilant Leighton nearly doubled the number one’s blushes. A searching free kick was flicked on and eventually went in. However, the raised flag of the linesman denied further celebrations on 12’.
Crawley Green composed themselves and levelled five minutes later. In fairness, they had been knocking on the door. Xavi Comas had to acrobatically tip a curling free kick out of the top right corner. Yet for this one, he’d want to look away. A corner from the left side was met by a towering Mathieu Racine. The defender headed low and it slipped through Comas’ legs.
The Spaniard need not worry mind, as Leighton would restore their lead less than 10 minutes later. Luke Pyman jumped at a poorly cleared cross and his deflected effort found the left side. Leon Lobjoit would crown a worthy half by scoring on 40’. James Towell’s first class delivery was right on the money and found Lobjoit who would’ve done well not to head home.
After the break, Lobjoit would be hunting his hattrick but to no avail. Brilliant wing play from new man Reece Robins and Kwai Marsh-Brown was a constant, yet a fourth goal wouldn’t come. On 58’, Lobjoit would nod across the face of goal. On 67’, he’d head straight at the keeper.
Individually, it’d prove frustrating but collectively Leighton carried out a solid win. After this, the next game is yet another league outing – away at Cockfosters on Saturday.

LTFC XI: Comas; Towell, Connolly, Connolly (C), Jackson, Goodman, Pyman, Spaul, Marsh-Brown, Lobjoit, Robins.
Subs: McClelland, Marsh, Harvey, Dumbuya, Hatton.
