Albie Hall carried on from some impressive glimpses with a well taken goal before Ben Farrell capitalised on a goalkeeping mistake.
Town started strongly against this Spartan opposition, with Alfie Powell powering a header at MK’s goalkeeper on four minutes. Straight after this, Jake Watkinson blazed over – however it was all a precursor to Leighton’s opener on the ten-minute mark.
Watkinson was involved again – making strides down the right before sliding a cross in for the arriving Albie Hall. He had the composure to slot the ball home from penalty spot.
Admittedly, in another pensive preseason battle, it was the last real action of the half – yet Town continued in the second period with the same determination as the opening flurry.
George Joyce was denied by fine goalkeeping on the hour mark before Leighton upped the pressure again as Seb Simpson headed just wide on 68’.
Three minutes later, Town made it 2-0. Where before the goalkeeper had showed such quality before, now a dropped ball gifted Ben Farrell an easy, final goal of the game.
Leighton Town next play Aylesbury Vale Dynamos in the final game of preseason back at Bell Close on Saturday.
