Last night, Leighton Town progressed to the final of the Dudley Latham Cup with a solid 2-0 victory over local rivals Dunstable Town at Bell Close.

It was an excellent start under the Tuesday night lights as the Reds forced an own goal from a corner on the right just three minutes in. The ball was just too enticing and found a way in through the bumbling bodies.
Aside from the early goal, the next 30 minutes broke into an expected cagey affair with Emmanuel Folarin going into the book on 33’ to sum it up.
After this, Town got more of a controlling grip on the game as Leon Lobjoit superbly grabbed the second goal. Homing in on a ball over the top, he somehow managed to lob the keeper with a header from the edge of the box to send the home fans jumping on 38’.
Realistically, it’d be a brilliant last action of the game for the former Northampton Town man, as he saw red in the second period. Initially receiving a sin bin, the ref clearly wasn’t happy with the striker and overturned his first decision.
Following this, Dunstable did put on some late pressure alas it wasn’t enough and Leighton rode it out to get the win. The next game for Lee Bircham’s side sees them welcome Shefford Town and Campton on the 28th of February in the league.
LTFC XI: Comas; Towell, Connolly, Connolly (C), Seabrook, Pyman, Folarin, Spaul, McClelland, Lobjoit, Hutchins.
Subs: Toomey, Robins, Jackson, Hatton, Flanagan.
