Leon Lobjoit kept up some blistering form with a hattrick. Lewis Toomey got himself a brace as Luke Pyman also got involved.
Leighton actually started the day under pressure. London Tigers looked to have taken the game to their hosts as Xavi Comas was forced into two fine saves within the first ten minutes. Leighton survived this early flurry and after a tester from Lobjoit on 19’, the striker would break the deadlock on 21’, tapping in a close range rebound. After a shaky start, this goal got the heads up and Leighton looked to hit their stride. Lobjoit again, got the second goal – another tap in after good wing play on the right.
Before the break, Luke Pyman got on the scoresheet. Up for a corner, the ball dropped nicely and he prodded it up into the right hand side. His goal was the cherry on top of a pretty convincing half. When play resumed, Town looked to continue in the same vein. Leon Lobjoit sealed his hattrick on 59’. A lovely floated ball from Kyle Connolly found the striker perfectly and he nodded home to make it 4-0. It was a brilliant tenth goal in seven games.
As we’ve seen before, Lobjoit’s exploits looked to inspire his strike partner and Lewis Toomey got on the scoresheet on 78’ with a deflected effort finding the left corner. He’d top that in a mere minute, grabbing his brace in thunderous fashion from long range – the keeper was beaten all ends up.
On 83’, London Tigers got themselves a consolation goal through a tap in yet Leighton obviously played out the rest of this very comfortable lead. Now, attention turns to preparing for the next outing – Codicote at home in the cup. In the meantime, Town’s development side play The 61 FC and Pitstone & Ivinghoe.
