MATCH REPORT

Colney Heath 0 - 1 Leighton Town

They looked to get back to winning ways quickly and did just that as they went to the league leaders, Colney Heath. A team Town had lost too earlier in the season, 1-0.
Town immediately set off on the front foot, when Sonny Newbury-Barr hit a shot from range that drew a save from the goalkeeper.
Town continued to dominate early on, with McClelland and Webb combining well on the charge.
Jordon Frederick was back with the armband on and he was booked on the 20th minute mark.
Colney Heath tried to show why they’re top of the league and had a couple of half chances through the lively, Jon Clements.
With the Half ticking away, Town had 2 fantastic chances to go in front.
The first after James Towell, who was absolutely exceptional all game, delivered a brilliant cross but Webb couldn’t turn it into the back of the net!
A few minutes later, McClelland headed across goal after a searching cross, but it went just wide!
Heath fired just wide before the end of the half, but it was 0-0 at the interval.
At the break, Brian Foulger came on for Alfie Osborne.
Heath started brighter for the opening few minutes of the second period and could’ve gone in front, but 7’s shot was straight at Kirkwood.
Then Town got going and got back on top!
Kieran Turner started causing all kinds of problems and his cross cannoned off of the post.
But on the 63rd minute, Town struck gold! McClelland found a way in and past the goalkeeper, but the effort was cleared off of the line. But, in came Sonny Newbury-Barr, who finished off with style to make it 1-0 in the league leaders backyard!
Kieran Turner entered the book and Archie McClelland was replaced by Martin Conway on the 70th minute.
Colney Heath tried to find their way back into the game and Kirkwood had to make a great finger-tipping save before a header from a corner sailed over.
Kieran Turner was replaced by Ross Adams with 5 minutes to go.
Heath’s last effort at goal was from Clements, who fired wide.
Danny Webb should’ve had a penalty in stoppage time, but the referee didn’t point to the spot!
But Town held on and defended resolutely, limiting Heath to only a handful of chances.
A battling, well-earned 3 points, with Town beating the league leaders 1-0 away from home!
A brilliant win that gets Town back to winning ways and sets them up for a big week ahead. 2 more away games, London Colney in the league on Tuesday and the Vase Last 16 on Saturday in Bradford-on-Avon.
A reminder, you can purchase your coach tickets for the FA Vase on Monday and Wednesday night 7.30pm-9pm from the club tickets £12.50 each. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
