The Town welcomed London Colney to Bell Close on Saturday, looking to extend their recent good league form, to 3 straight wins.

They lined up as follows: Kirkwood, Bryant, Silford, Murphy, Donkor, Osborne, Conway, Towell, Campbell, Webb, McClelland.
The recent first starts had seen Town cruise to early leads in the past 2 league games.
So they decided to make it a 3rd!
Just 3 minutes on the clock and Town took the lead! New arrival, Martin Conway, fed Danny Webb, who fired across the goalkeeper for 1-0! Webb continuing his fine recent form!
Town continued to dominate proceedings, with Osborne, Towell and the rest of the Town players bossing the midfield.
Conway and Webb both had opportunities well saved by the goalkeeper.
20 minutes into the tie and Town made it 2, through an unlikely source...
Alfie Osborne got his first goal in a long time, his first for the Town and what a goal it was! He connected on to a loose ball from 25 yards and struck it with venom past the keeper, with it skidding across the slippery surface!
2 minutes later, it became 3!
Martin Conway on his debut, got in down the right and fired across the keeper in style! A carbon copy of Webb’s opener.
Tom Bryant and Ashton Campbell both tested the Colney keeper, who kept them both out brilliantly.
Brad Kirkwood was also in fine form for the Town, he made a smart stop to claw the ball away from a certain goal!
5 minutes before Half-Time, Town made it 4!
Ashton Campbell and Danny Webb combined superbly, with Campbell releasing Webb on the counter, the latter delivering a ball right on the money and Campbell was there to nod home. What a brilliant goal.
The Colney goalkeeper, despite already conceding 4, was making save after save, keeping the scoreline down. He made 2 unbelievable saves either side of a Kirkwood stop, to deny Campbell twice.
Town went in 4-0 up at the break, the 3rd time they have scored 4 in the first half in a row!
At the break, James Towell was replaced by Ben Pattie.
In the second half, Colney came out the traps quickly. Kirkwood made 2 good saves down low to keep them out.
Alfie Osborne continued to get constant nose-bleeds, he was in the box and could’ve had a 2nd if it wasn’t for the Colney keeper.
Just 7 minutes into the second period, Town put another one on the scoresheet.
Ashton Campbell did brilliantly down the left and squared to Danny Webb, who flicked smartly past the keeper from close range! 5-0!
Town continued to apply more and more pressure on the Colney goal and shortly after, the 6th arrived.
Ben Pattie’s sublime flick released Campbell, who finished with aplomb past the keeper!
The keeper was then replaced, after sustaining a knock in the first half. He was given a standing ovation from the Town supporters!
Martin Conway, who was excellent on his debut, getting a goal and an assist, was replaced by Kuda Butawo.
Talking of goalkeepers playing well, Brad Kirkwood was in inspired form for Town. He made another great save high to his left.
He then made another fine stop, to release Town on the counter. Osborne’s great pass played in Webb, who teed up Campbell, for a simple finish! 7-0! Ashton Campbell claiming his 3rd of the game! 5 goals in 2 league games for Campbell.
Captain Dave Murphy was replaced for the return of Carl Resch!
And just a few seconds later... Resch was in the referee’s book!
As the game entered the final 10 minutes, Town rubbed salt in the Colney wounds with an 8th and what a strike it was!
Ben Pattie turned inside and from about 25 yards, curled a beautiful strike into the top left corner! Pattie’s second goal in a Town shirt!
Kirkwood was called on once more before the final whistle, making another good save, despite the wet conditions.
With England and Leicester left-back in the crowd, Town tried to emulate his success from the night before with a 9th...
But, 8 had to do, with McClelland and Campbell having good chances saved late on!
What a performance from the Town, in front of a good crowd at Bell Close despite the adverse weather!
It’s not every day you see an 8-0 win!
Town now up to 15th, 3 straight league wins and 18 goals scored in those 3 games!
Next up is a trip to Langford in the League Challenge Trophy on Tuesday evening!
Thank you for your support, we hope to see you on Saturday!
