They gave their hosts a two goal start before they came to life in the second half. The game was played at a good pace in the sweltering heat and great credit to both sides for an entertaining match.
An excellent move started by Alex O'Brien set up Dom Marsala to pull one back for Town and very soon afterwards Marsala turned provider when a pin-point cross found Ty Deakin who got a deserved equaliser.
However, in the very next move Welwyn switched play quickly from a Town corner and broke clear and a great finish earned the points for the worthy Champions.
Town almost spoiled the celebrations when a goal bound header from Dom Marsala was deflected and only a brilliant save from the Welwyn 'keeper kept the points safe.
In a season which had much promise, Town are very disappointed not to finish in a promotion spot but the Club are well placed to start next season with an experienced squad and hopefully do better.
Congratulation must go to all the Players who got so close for the Club in both the League and the F A Vase.
This team played over 50 games in all competitions and were a great credit to both themselves and the Club.
