Leighton made the short trip to Hertfordshire on Saturday and for the second time in two weeks they scored 4 goals after a good team performance.

Town Manager, Scott Reynolds made a couple of changes for this game, George Boland was included in midfield in his first full game for Town, and Lorell Smith was on the subs bench with Lea Coulter returning to his best position in attack.

Kicking up the slope Town started well and they had the first shot of the match when Tom Silford tried his luck with a right footed effort that flew inches over the bar. Five minutes later Town thought they should have been awarded a penalty when Lea Coulter appeared to be brought down from behind but the referee allowed play to continue with Town still complaining.

In the 32nd minute Town won a corner after James Hatch cross was headed behind for a corner. This was partially cleared but Alex O’Brien cleverly tricked his opponent and chipped it to the back post and Lea Coulter headed firmly into the net. A couple of minutes later another good Town move saw a cross which was just too high for James Hatch.

Town went on the attack at the start of the second half and in the 47th minute following a free kick which produced a scramble in front of the goal George Boland scored his first goal in Leighton colours.

In the 65th minute sub: Dom Marsala broke down the left and delivered a good cross which was met by Lea Coulter who steered it into the net for his second goal of the match.

Town introduced Tom Bryant and Lorell Smith to the action and in the 89th minute Bryant received a pass from Marsala and slotted it through the keepers legs and into the net to put the seal on a fine display from Leighton.

Town face two difficult home games this week , on Tuesday they play Welwyn Garden City and then they face 1874 Northwich in the Buildbase FA Vase Quarter Final on Saturday.

Town are asking fans to buy tickets for this game to help improve access to the ground on Saturday as a large crowd is expected. Tickets will be on sale every evening next week from 7-9 pm and also at Tuesday’s match.
