London Colney 2 - Leighton 0

Leighton travelled to London Colney on Saturday to take on the League Leaders and despite putting in a good performance were unable to stop the leaders from taking all three points thanks to a goal in each half.
Town’s problems started the night before the game when players made themselves unavailable and left Manger, Scott Reynolds, having to race around at the 11 th hour to find suitable replacements.
The game started at a low tempo and Town had the first opportunity in the 7th minute when they won a free kick just outside the box but the effort was lifted high over the bar by Martin Griggs.
Colney then put together a good move but Woods wasted the opportunity by firing high over the bar.
The hosts took the lead in the 20th minute when Woods drilled a low shot past Bradley Kirkwood from 12 yards after a Colney player won a loose ball on the edge of the box.
Town thought they should have been awarded a penalty but the referee was not interested although even London Colney fans agreed it was a definite handball.
Colney increased their lead early on in the second half when a deep cross was knocked back across goal and an unmarked attacker at the far post had a simple tap in from 2 yards out.
Town had a reasonable chance from a free kick but Hateley Mercer under intense pressure put the ball over the bar.
Colney then attacked and won two successive corners but Town defended them well and denied the hosts the chance to increase their lead.
Colney put together a good move which included a possible offside but Clements cut in from the right but was foiled by Kirkwood’s excellent low save.
Town then won two successive corners and Griggs shot over from the second.
A few minutes later full back, Jack Copson cut in from the left but put his right footed shot just over the bar as Town tried to cut the deficit.
Town introduced two substitutes but were unable to get a consolation and the Hosts day got even better when they found that challengers, Hertford Town had dropped three points.
Town despite their problems gave a gritty performance but despite their efforts they remain amongst the group of Clubs who are still involved in the battle against relegation.
Town entertain Edgware next Saturday at Bell close in another six pointer.
Then they play Crawley Green on the following Tuesday also at Bell Close.
