Hadley 1 - Leighton Town 1

Despite both teams occupying positions near the foot of the table, this was an entertaining and sporting game between two evenly matched sides and a draw was probably the right result on the balance of play although the hosts had more possession in the second half and Town were forced to defend for some lengthy periods.

Town were short of 2 players on their subs bench as Lorrel Smith and Aaron McKee were both missing from the starting line up.

Town's first attack of the half came in the 12th minute after some good work down the left saw Ben Gallant pass the ball to Lewis Mcbride but he shot wide of the goal and a minute after this Martin Griggs who played as the single striker put a left footed shot just wide.

Then Mulholland tried his luck from long range but Jack Sillitoe made a good block and the ball was kicked away for a corner.

A couple of minutes after this another shot struck a Leighton defender and was deflected over the bar. Town returned to the attack and good play between Gallant and McBride saw the latter shoot wide. Hadley attacked and Benmansour was just off target with a fierce shot.

In Leighton's next attack good work by Dom Marsala saw his low cross knocked out by the keeper but McBride eventually shot wide. Town took the lead in the 29th minute after superb skills by Griggs who controlled the ball and turned to his right before his superb chip floated over Mann and dropped just under the bar at the far post.

Hadley thought they had equalised just before the break when a free kick looked destined for the top corner but Sillitoe produced a magnificent save to tip it round for a corner.

Hadley could have equalised in the 52nd minute when Benmansour in front of goal knocked a rebound wide of a gaping goal. A minute later Dom Marsala's shot hit the post in a Town attack.
Sillitoe then had to save with his legs in another Hadley attack to deny Machado. Then Leighton produced a good move but Ben Gallant shot over from a central position.

Just when it was starting to look as if Town might take all 3 points Hadley produced an equaliser in the 75th minute when Connor Bolton who looked dangerous throughout the game drove a left footed shot past the excellent Sillitoe.

Both sides created chances after the equaliser but they could not convert them and the game left both teams with an important point.

This was a good hard working display by Leighton and the team was unrecognisable from the 2nd half display at Holmer Green the previous week. Town's passing and defensive work particularly in the first half was good although they had less possession in the second half. If Dom Marsala's shot had not hit the post early in the half they could possibly have won the game.

Town now face 3 difficult home games in a week.
