Yesterday’s match was more than just football. It was a moment of remembrance, of love, and of honouring a man whose presence has been woven into the very fabric of Leighton Town FC for so many years. Andy Griggs — or “Griggsy” as we all fondly knew him — wasn’t just a fan. He was the heartbeat of our club, a constant source of encouragement, laughter, and unwavering support through every high and low.
Before kick-off, a minute’s applause rang out across the ground, echoing the deep respect and affection we all hold for Andy. His wife, family, and close friends stood with us, surrounded by the warmth of a community that cherished him. It was a powerful, emotional tribute — one that spoke volumes about the impact Andy had on all of us.
And then, as if written in the stars, the team delivered a stunning 4-0 victory against Beaconsfield Town. It was the kind of performance Andy would have revelled in — full of passion, grit, and pride. He would have been the first to cheer, the first to shake every hand, and the first to remind us how proud he was of the lads. We felt his spirit with us in every pass, every goal, and every cheer from the stands.
Andy wasn’t just a supporter — he was family. His loyalty, kindness, and humour lit up every matchday. Whether rain or shine, win or lose, Andy was there — scarf on, smile wide, heart open. His legacy is not just in the memories we share, but in the values he embodied: community, dedication, and love for the beautiful game.
To Andy’s wife, family, and friends — our hearts are with you. We hope you felt the love that surrounded you yesterday, and know that Andy’s memory will live on in every corner of our club. He will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace, Griggsy. You were one of a kind. It was an honour to know you, and a privilege to call you our friend. You will be missed more than words can say — but you will be remembered always, with love, pride, and gratitude.
Forever part of Leighton Town FC

Just two weeks before his passing, Andy Griggs generously sponsored our captain, Lewis Thorpe, for the season.
This week’s MOTM is, without question, Andy — our biggest supporter and a true club legend. We miss you, mate
Thorpey proudly accepted the award on Andy’s behalf today. He would’ve been so proud of the performance
