After a fine mid week away result Leighton were keen to continue their good form in their first Saturday fixture at Bell Close.
There were enforced changes in personnel but additional players coming in ensured that the starting eleven looked solid and balanced.
The game had barely started when a good passing move by Leighton down the right flank was casually converted by debutant Chris Evans.
The visitors took this setback well and were looking lively up front with the home defence looking less assured than during the week.
Leighton struggled to apply any consistent pressure and possession was shared, but significantly the visitors defence looked a fragile unit.
Not only did Leighton strike the woodwork twice but they also doubled their lead with a fine individual goal from Adnale Odutolu.
Having said that it was also no surprise when the visitors broke clear of the home defence to score a goal just before half time.
The second half began with Leighton looking a bit more assured at the back and this provided the platform for them to start creating chances on a regular basis.
Two of these chances were superbly gobbled up by George Armstrong, his first in particular a brutal finish into the bottom corner.
David Johnson was also proving to be a constant menace and bagged a fine goal for himself whilst also proving to be a key component in some slick passing movements that threatened more goals.
St Margaretsbury however, refused to buckle and their young team fought back well to score a second goal.
