Town Pick Up Point Against 10 Man Wembley

The Town welcomed Wembley to Bell Close on Saturday, as the reds looked to extend their unbeaten run to 3 games.

Sweeney and Copson made 3 changes to the team, with Brian Foulger and Kyle Faulkner dropping to the bench, and Car Resch out due to the operation he had during the week.
Tom Bryant, Alfie Osborne and Jordan Fredericks came in, Fredericks making his debut for the Town.
Wembley came into the game having not lost in their last 5, with 3 wins and 2 draws.
It was a slow start from both teams, but Wembley came out of the blocks the feistiest, Mohamed getting a yellow card inside 4 minutes.
Just over 10 minutes into the tie and Wembley should have scored. A ball fizzed across the box fell into the path of Berchiche but he couldn’t connect properly and couldn’t put the ball into the net from just a few yards out.
Then a quarter into the tie, Wembley were reduced to 10 men! Stephen Ebonine hit out at Dave Murphy off the ball, and after consulting with his linesman, the referee produced a red card.
After that red card, little action followed and soon enough it was half time.
The second half started just as slow as the first, with neither team creating opportunities and the Town failing to take advantage of the one man deficit.
However midway into the second half, Tom Silford rattled the woodwork! He cut back inside on the edge of the area and fired towards goal, but his shot cracked the post and it was cleared away by the Wembley rearguard.
Oliver Buckley came on with 20 minutes to go, for Tom Bryant.
Kyle Faulkner also entered the proceedings shortly after, replacing Jay Caines.
As the minutes ticked by, Tyrer nearly turned into his own net for Wembley, somehow he managed to turn the ball behind for a corner after a fantastic low driven cross by the Town.
As the game entered added time, Wembley nearly took the lead. Fehmi-Gil hit a free kick from about 35 yards with pace and swerve and it nearly deceived Tom Wyant, but he saved fantastically to deny the Wembley man a wonder goal.
Aaron McKee then came on for Jordan Fredericks.
In the dying seconds, the Town were so close to nicking it.
Kyle Faulkner did brilliantly down the right hand side and delivered a great ball to the far post. It wasn’t dealt with by the Wembley defence and Tom Silford fired it back across goal. Somehow Montel Joseph in the visitors goal beat it away on the goal line and Lewis McBride fired the rebound well, well wide.
That was it for action at Bell Close and their was little of it all afternoon.
Certainly disappointing for the Town, who couldn’t capitalise on playing against 10 men for nearly 70 minutes.

Next up for the Town, is a trip to Oxhey Jets next Saturday.
We hope to see you there, thank you for your support once again.
