Town Too Strong For 10 Man Arlesey

The Town welcomed Arlesey to Bell Close on Saturday afternoon, as they looked to get back to winning ways, after a defeat in the Vase last Saturday.

The Town made 3 changes to the team that lost at Lye. Matt Hall, Kyle Faulkner and Tom Silford, replacing the suspended Matt Brady, the injured Dom Marsala and Brian Foulger.
5 of Arlesey’s starting 11, played their football at Bell Close at the end of last campaign.
Tom Guiney (Captain), Alex O’Brien, Lorrel Smith, James Hatch and Ash Fuller, all started.
It was a strong start by the Town. Tom Bryant was denied by Ponting and so was Kyle Faulkner, in the early exchanges.
With just 15 minutes on the clock, the Town were awarded a penalty. Aaron McKee stepped up, but he couldn’t convert and it stayed at 0-0.
The Town were dominating proceedings, much like they did in Arlesey earlier on this season, but on that day, Arlesey nicked all 3 points in the dying embers.
Just 10 minutes after the penalty incident, Arlesey were reduced to 10 men.
Ex-Town Captain and now Arlesey Captain Tom Guiney, brought down Kyle Faulkner after he was released by Matt Hall. A clear goal scoring opportunity and the referee has no option but to send Guiney off.
The Town continued to ramp up the pressure on Arlesey. Matt Hall and Lewis McBride combining well on the left hand side.
At Half Time, the Town were in front with players on the pitch, but should’ve been in front on the score line.
And soon after the restart, they were!
The ball was swung into the box and flicked on by Carl Resch and there was Kyle Faulkner, to prod home, and give the Town a deserved 1-0 lead.
Leighton were playing sensational football and doubled there lead on 60 minutes.
Lewis McBride with another fantastic strike from the edge of the box, that arrowed into the bottom corner.
The Town were cruising at 2-0, but that didn’t stop them getting a third!
Aaron McKee picked out Tom Bryant with an excellent pass. Bryant then drove at the Arlesey defence from the right hand side, before striking into the bottom right corner, another brilliant Town goal!
Tom Silford was then replaced by George Armstrong.
Lewis McBride was also substituted, George Dentice came on in his place.
Kyle Davison-Gordon came off as well, with around 10 minutes to go, with Michael Donkor coming on.
Arlesey had their first real chance of the game on 80 minutes on the clock. Adam Brown’s header was saved well by Charlie Jones.
The Town saw the rest of the game out and recorded a massive victory and some bragging rights over the former Town players.
That’s 3 Clean Sheets in the last 4 games for the Town and back to back victories in the league!
Next up for the Town, is a home fixture against Colney Heath, next Saturday, 15:00 Kick Off.
Thank you for your support, we hope to see you again next week!
Up The Town!
