Town's excellent start to the Season was halted last night by St Ives in an entertaining game at Bell Close. The 4-1 score line flatters the Visitors but they deserved to win as they took their chances whilst Town squandered theirs.
Leighton dominated the first period and created several good opportunities but were unable to make them count and were punished by former Leighton Player Danny Watson who scored
either side of half-time .
Very poor defending allowed St Ives to seal the game but Town never gave up but again, failed to hit the target when through on goal.
Substitute Jack Harris was brought down in the box late on and converted the resulting penalty for a late consolation, but straight from the restart St Ives struck to maintain their three goal advantage .
Manager Eaton was disappointed with Town's inability to hit the target and score when on top in this game, but was pleased with the way they played and showed that as the Team they have the potential to create chances and will improve as they settle down together.
Next up is Petersfield at home this Sat - 3.00 pm .
