Leighton Town 2 Aylesbury Utd 2 .
Town rescued a point , deservedly , in an exciting derby game today.
Aylesbury started the better but squardered a couple of early chances ,
and , hit the post with the Town 'keeper beaten.
Leighton had to make an early substitution when Phil Draycott was injured -
Christian Lester replacing him . Lester almost made an immediate impact going
very close following great work by debutant Billy Lobjoit . The break through came
just before half-time when a superb coss-field pass from Warren Garcia picked out
Billy Lobjoit whose immacullate chip found Mark Bunker who cracked home from close
range .
Aylesbury started the second period very strongly and equalised when Town 'keeper
Green fumbled a free- kick and the un-marked Steve Hatch stroked the ball into the net .
Almost immediately very poor defending let Jason Blackett through and he was brought down
in the box .Paul Edgeworth cooly despatched the resulting penalty .
Town responded well and both Lester and Billy Lbjoit went close .
Following a great run down the left , Jesse Waites should have done better for the Visitors
but his weak effort went into the side net .
Leighton 'keeper made an excelent save from Blackett as Aylesburt strived to increase their
lead and Leon Lobjoit forced Bell in United goal into a good save as Leighton pressed for the
equaliser .
Ashley Farmer forced Bell into another good save , as time was running out , and from the resultant
corner, the ball fell to Mark Bunker who had time to pick his spot to equalise . The home side pressed
for a winner and went close in the final seconds , but the game ended all square which on reflection , was
a fair result .
