Town Through To Next Round Of League Challenge Trophy
By Andrew Parker
After a disappointing result against Oxhey Jets in their previous game Town gave a much improved display against 1st Division, Hatfield.
Town started brightly and moved the ball around well as they kicked down the slope and after dominating for the first 15 minutes they went ahead after some superb passing created a chance for Alex O'Brien and the midfielder fired low into the net to give Town a deserved lead .
Town kept their foot on the pedal and they increased their lead in the 33rd minute when Kelvin Osei- Addo turned smartly on the edge of the box before firing a fierce shot into the far corner of the Hatfield net.
Hatfield manged to pull a goal back before the break after some slack defensive play allowed a hatfield striker to run into the box and strike a low shot past Tom Bryant.
The score did not really reflect Leighton's superiority in the first half but Hatfield came out in a much more determined manner after the break but Town had a couple of chances in the early minutes which they failed to convert.
Town again had the greater share of possession in
the second half but were unable to create the chances to increase their lead until the 91st minute when Lewis McBride rounded the keeper before sliding the ball home to seal Town's win.
Despite allowing Hatfield back into the game this was a good all round team performance by Town who will now play Hillingdon Borough at home in the next round on 30th October
