They started well and James Hatch clipped the bar early on and Dom Marsala went close with a fine strike . Dom then hit the post as Leighton dominated.
However, as sometimes happens, Stotfold weathered this pressure and in almost their first visit to the Town half they took the lead. A long ball was played through to the un-marked Adam Drakulic and he finished with a great strike across home 'keeper Tom Wyant into the bottom corner.
The second period started as did the first with Town pressing and both Alex O'Brien and Lewis McBride almost equalised but the resolute Stotfold defence held firm. Then Stotfold missed a glorious chance to extend their lead with Town's defence in all kinds of problems.
Sub Carl Tappin set James Hatch through but the striker just put his effort wide.
Stotfold held on and deservedly took the points home and this result will greatly help their fight against relegation.
